Homemade Kahlua #1
- 1 1/2 cups light brown sugar
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups water
- 1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise, or 2 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup instant coffee
- 3 cups vodka
Directions:
- In a medium saucepan, combine brown sugar, sugar, water, and the vanilla bean if that's what you are using. Bring to a boil.
- Boil for 5 minutes, stirring until sugars dissolve. Gradually stir in coffee; cool.
- Pour into 6-cup jar or bottle with a tight fitting lid.
- Stir in vodka and vanilla extract if that's what you are using. Close lid.
- Let stand at least 2 weeks at room temperature before serving.
- Serve as a liqueur, over ice cream or pudding, or as flavoring for milk drinks.
